Appearance - pours a warm Amber with a finger width of bubbly white head.

Smell - earthy hops, bready malts, hints of wheat and toffee.

Taste - starts off with the earthy hops, followed by the bready malts and a lingering pale wheat flavour. Just a touch of toffee-like notes.

Mouthfeel - medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes dry with lingering wheat malt and hop bitterness.

Overall - a refreshing and spot on EPA by Canoe. Nice lingering flavours of wheat and earth hops on the palate.

A - Medium yellow with a thin layer of cream coloured head. Slightly cloudy.

S - Pine, grapefruit tangerine. Not much sweetness at all.

T - Light bitterness with pine and grapefruit flavours. A slight malt sweetness in the background. The palate was a bit flat after a decnt nose.

M - Light body, slightly creamy. Moderate carbonation.

My only complaint about this beer is noticed right away. While this beer pours out a nice copper colour with a thin white head, as I poured the last bit out of the bottle, several large, unsightly pieces of sediment slowly dropped into the bottom of my glass.

Other than that, this is a beautifully done pale ale. A nice malty smell with a strong hop presence. The taste is yeast, malt and citrus notes. Mouthfeel is a little off. A bit too carbonated, but otherwise and very well done beer.

One of the nicest labels on a BC beer , this Pale Ale is really the pick of the litter at this brewpub. The colour is very pale for the style but the beer has a good acid with a nice use of Kent Goldings hops. Well balanced and a fine tipple, this is a must have on the Victoria beer circuit.
