cool little brewpub with a small beer selection and full bar for drinks, pub food with a lot of creative sandwiches, some pinball arcade type games in a separate area and even a big space for live music and events

Deep Cuts - it was the only craft beer destination in the little downtown Medford/city hall area. Even still, it was not worth the time I spent having a mere one beer that I attempted with futility to enjoy.
Reviews on Google were bad, but I can usually make the best out of a bad taplist (I tend to avoid IPAs) so made my way in and checked the taplist. There were some lighter beers like a cream ale and pilsner, so opted for a real blank canvas type of beer. Bad decision as the beer was full of off-notes and acrid bitterness. I attempted a second beer, and thought I should go for something that has a little bolder profile. The only non-hazy IPA was a west coast double, so I asked the bartender for a sample. It was malty brown jet fuel. I'm sorry to say, but west coast IPAs should never and will never be BROWN.
The place itself seemed like a sad hangout for local losers, and has the opposite of a vibe that you'd call warm or cozy. To boot, the beer seems like an afterthought compared to the integrated music venue that exists inside this brewery. The guy behind the bar was nice enough, I suppose, but nothing about his presence or conversation would even let you know you were in a brewery.
And in addition to this beer being poor in quality, it was also extremely expensive. Most beers come in either a 12 or 16oz size with little rhyme or reason as to why. The awful double IPA, which was the strongest beer on the board at a whopping 7.0%, only came in a 10oz for what I believe was $10 or $11? Bad beer, awkward space, shit vibe, expensive. Maybe the service was a little better than terrible cause the guy was nice.
Do not recommend this place whatsoever.
