Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium to dark coppery amber with a fine, two finger white head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of biscuit malt, citrus hops, lemon, vague mixed fruit, summer herbs and a hint of mint. Flavor is biscuit and lightly caramel malt, citrus and piney hops, grapefruit, some hay, pine and ripe stone fruit; some resin in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A somewhat old fashioned IPA profile with biscuity malt, but supported by a little caramel too. The hops are not what I expected; the Citra character is here, but not with more pine than expected and there is less of the fruitiness that characterizes Galaxy. It is an interesting and satisfying hop bill, with lots going on; some earthy herbal notes and a little resin. I liked this one. Somewhat idiosyncratic, but enjoyable. Looks great.

Poured from 16oz can into my BeerAdvocate teku. I don't see a date on the can.
Appearance: rich copper hue with a mostly clear body and a finger of ivory foam atop. Dark for a modern DIPA!
Smell: sweetish and malt-forward with caramel and bread, and some earthy, even slightly peppery, hops layered on top. Not too bad; it's a little bit "retro".
Taste: sweet, and though the hops come to the fore here, there's still plenty of caramel in the malt. Hops are as before: earthy, perhaps a bit herbal. There's a little pepperiness here too: whether from the hops or from the fermentation, I don't know.
Mouthfeel: kind of a light body for a DIPA, with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: this reminds me more of an Imperial Red Ale than a DIPA. Remember when those were all the rage? This one is okay
