Named after Alfred von Vakano, the founder of the brewery, this beer comes out a pale cloudy gold hue under a big contoured white head that doesn't stick around long and doesn't stick to the sides of the glass at all. The nose has a slightly cabbage, skunky smell to it. The mouth has a prickly medium body. There is lots of malt to start the taste, followed by a touch of citrus. The finish brings out a bit of hoppy bitterness, which defers to sweetness in the aftertaste. I suspect that Alfred would have hoped for a bit more in a beer named after him. I certainly did.
