A - Light gold in colour, with lots of carbonation.
S - Slightly sweeter with the caramelly smell of toasty malts and chocolate with an odd metallic taste.
T - Quite sweet and malty for the colour. There is a slight bitterness from some hops which gives it a refreshing bite, which balances the maltiness.
M - Medium bodied, and appropriate carbonation.
D - Quite drinkable, definitely worth the euro it cost.

Overall, this is an ok brew. The only reason I got it, was that it was fairly cheap and it's brewed where my family is from. The smell was kind of wierd, in that it had a sort of ashtray thing going on, but at the same time, there was a little fruit going on, as well as chocolate. It's weird, cause the smell, which you would think was bad due to the ashtray effect, wasn't too bad. Sure, it wasn't great or anything, but I have smelled worse. The taste was kind of hard to really pick out anything, other than chocolate, which was good. There was also a smoked wood taste as well. With all that said, it's a different beer. Try it if you like, it's something worth trying I think.

The beer poured translucent black with amber highlights. The head was white and small and did not last very long.
The aroma was chocolate, fruity and a wee bit of alcohol.
The flavor was chocolate, coffee and fruit. Also present was a caramel flavor.
The finish was dry with a slight coffee aftertaste. The body was a little thin, medium light to medium.
This is a lager beer, a Schwarzbier.
640 ml bottle (21.6 ounces) - the bottle is actually dark green.
Back label on bottle reads:
"Holsten Black Knight is a black bottom-fermented beer, the German counterpart to the top-fermenting Stouts and Porters of England. It is brewed with black, chocolate and crystal malts according to the German Purity Law of 1516."
The neck lable has Japanese charaters on it.
