Plastic bottle of 500 ml, brown in colour with a scewed top cap, bought at Kleve, Germany, at the local Aldi supermarket. As in the Netherlands, they only sell one brand of beer. Karlskrone was the one there, coming in three varieties. Ingredients are water, barley malt, glucose/sucrose syrup, caramel colour and hops. Brewed by Holsten Brauerei as stated on the bottle. Poured into my Guinness pint glass. Half finger of beige head, with very low retention as expected. Very dark brown colour, almost black. No activity whatsoever in the glass. Sweet aroma of lightly roasted malts and very obvious caramel and molasses smell. Taste is all malty of course, very sweet. If you try hard enough you can taste some very faint, subtle bitterness struggling to surface under all the malty sweetness. Medium to full body and almost non existent carbonation. Very flat. Saved only by the body. Just what I expected, nothing more nothing less.
