It has been some time since I had a Pumpkin Ale, and I am pretty excited to get into it. I always enjoy something different from the norm and a Pumpkin Ale in Australia is just that.

Sitting here in my glass this brew is ticking a lot of boxes. The orange, copper colour of the beer is perfect which I feel is important in this style. The aromas are great as well, heavy pumpkin with spices mixed in. The nutmeg is nicely balanced rounding out the aroma making this seem authentic. The fact that it poured with a nice head and left great lacing topped it off for this category.
The pumpkin flavours are more subdued in the taste, where the spices are taking the reins a bit more. More cinnamon flavours as well with vanilla. There is an amount of sweetness from the pumpkin but also a tang from the bitterness which obviously work well together. The mouth feel is full and very smooth.
I’d love to see this a bit creamier and perhaps more nutmeg in the taste but overall I really enjoyed the beer. I’ve said it before, breaking the mould is a great way to discover fantastic beer. Very few breweries are making Pumpkin Ales, which is a shame, because done correctly leaves an amazing brew.
Cheers
