Deep amber with reddish hues, long lasting fluffy off-white head, medium clarity
Malt forward aroma with notes of dark fruit, oak, wine and a faint cherry aroma. Virtually no hop aroma, perhaps a bit of funk from the barrel aging. Slight oxidation
Slight tart flavor with hints of oak, dark fruit, red wine, cherries and some funk. Hop bitter is very low with slight tones of earthy. Some oxidation.
Medium full body with medium carbonation. Some alcohol warmth but subtle, slight puckering from tartness but still pleasant.
I have only had this beer with age but I can tell it has greatly improved. I'm not huge in to sours but I may pick up another bottle and age for a few more years, this beer is really good.
