Pours a deep, dark brown coloration with a reddish hue when held up to the light, with a small, fluffy head. Smells of slightly roasted, caramel malt, rich milk chocolate and some toffee and coffee, as well as hints of estery spice. Taste is a good balance of slightly roasted, caramel malt and rich toffee and milk chocolate notes, as well as rather distinct estery spice notes, reminiscent of clove, nutmeg and cinnamon. Finishes bittersweet, with a medium sweetness and some toffee, chocolate and spice lingering in the aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with a medium/rich body and light/medium carbonation.
While I never had the regular Mano Negra, I have a feeling that I would prefer it to this, which is just a bit too sweet and not quite bitter enough for me personally, although it does have some rather nice chocolate and toffee notes, with lighter coffee, but what really stands out here is the strong estery spice, which is an aspect that I rather enjoy as it balances out the sweetness nicely and lends a somewhat unique and interesting touch to this. I guess it's also why they call this a "Belgian Stout".
