Jet black with steady mocha stout-style head. Wet wood, molasses and a sour yeast tang – weird nose.
Fig and balsamic with a gentle wood and winter spice ending.
Grape skin finish and tart linger. Medium, some cling, dry, a bit thin.
At this strength it’s never gonna be too offensive. There’s supposedly 30 IBUs, but you don’t get it under the funk. Acidic dark malts and Brett might make this a touch too sour.
A wild dark mild? More like a tart, refreshing, winey, light BDA.

Poured into a chimay chalice, dark dark brown / black, finger of tan of head
Smells roasted, chocolatey, actually boozy ( whiskey / rum ) which is surprising from a 3.8%.
Tastes of sweet fruits on the front, then a little bit sour, then with a slightly bitter finish.
Mouthfeel is thin which is typical for the style, Good carbonation.
Not my favorite style of beer, but I believe this is a pretty good attempt at the style, I enjoyed this.

Enjoyed on 05/04/11. Pours very dark amber color into my Tulip glass. Crown looks like milk & cofffe in color. Foamy thick layer, close & dense fairly well lasting. Brief lacing ring. Fresh grass aroma, spices, pine & resin too. Toasted malt, grassy hop & complex herbal flavor with subtle coffee notes. Dark berries & coffee hints round a sour aftertaste. Surprising body for a low ABV beer. Average carbonation. Refreshing drinkability. (Pioneer & Hallertau Mittelfruh hops. Morpheus yeast)
