From a 33cL bottle. It pours a burgundy brown without any head.
Aromas of sour cherries and dark fruits
The taste follows with a serious sourness. The cherry is nice. Some lactic presence and a bit of brett
High carbonation
Nice

Poured from fridge temp to a snifter. Holy crap - exploded upon opening. After losing a good amount, and cleaning up a mess, I sat down with this beast. Pours a very dark purple - fairly opaque. Nose is incredible. Funky red wine, oak, sour cherries, oak. Taste is....SOUR! Huge sour notes upfront. Citrus peel, funk, sour cherries, grapefruit, sour candy, leather, barnyard funk, and some herbal notes. Maybe a touch of spice. This is really incredible. The barrel really comes through. Mouthfeel is sticky, dry, and excited. Overall, a fantastic beer from Alvinne.

On tap at Haymaker, NYC, it was listed as a sour ale so I’ll review it as tasted: tart with sharp funky and oaky notes that resemble wine and bring out nice fruity flavors along with woody barrel notes, dark fruit and citrus or grape tannins. I like the complexities and overall sour feel, a very enjoyable offering that hides the ABV well.

what a beer! darker than other kriek types, more natural looking, pushing brown, but with the brick red overtone from the fruit. tons of funk on the nose, almost smells like old lambic, musty and astringent at the same time, oak and wine tannins, tartness from the fruit but also a mature bacterial sourness as well, heavy wood, an an almost decomposing vibe about it, less fresh, more integrated and developed. the cherry is right there with a bright red wine character, plums and blackberries too, nice pucker to the fruit, some sweetness too, and a lot of cherry in the finish. i love it being in red wine barrels, there is a lot of that coming through here, and its excellent with the cherry. beyond that, the base beer is interesting, more malty than most, mature, and set up just right for the fruit and the wood, its quite sour and acidic, but its also mellow in the right ways. lots of body, good carbonation from the tap, and an almost preserved cherry intensity to finish. musty funk for days, wet wood, earthy and fancy at the same time. i really loved this, as much beer as it is fruit, which isnt always the case with these. on tap at backcountry pizza, who continues to lead the field when it comes to procuring kegs like this. a different type of kriek, a darn fine beer!

Mine's a 2014. American Wild Ale?!
Exploded out of the bottle. A very dry and sour kriek with some very interesting chocolatey notes. Nice mouthfeel. Nice fruity bread pudding aftertaste.
Not bad at all. Definitely one for a muggy day.
