Purchased as a takeaway from the brewery in Mt.Gambier, South Australia, in April 2022.
When I had this beer on tap at the brewery I immediately noticed a buttery, diacetyl taste. Being subtle (I'm good like that :)) I asked the brewer whether there was honey malt in it. He confirmed there was and so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Having had other beers from this brewery that seemed rife with diacetyl I'm not sure my intuition was incorrect, and upon opening this can, pouring and lifting the glass to my nose I was presented with a bouquet of banana and butter.
As the beer warmed the intensity of the banana died down, but it was still evident, and a mild hop bitterness began to present in the mouth. A little bit of diacetyl is ok in a golden ale (although, strangely, it's not a style that's selectable when adding a beer), but I'm not convinced this isn't a flawed beer.
It pains me to write this review (and this is the second such one I've written for this brewery), as I have no desire to shit on a small business, and I'm prepared to retract it and apologise if I'm proven wrong in future.
Cheers

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
