The name means “”yeast wheat”. An unusual yeast variety and an almost obscene amount of wheat give this cloudy, German ale it’s “eigenartiges geschmack”. Bold notes of banana, clove and even bubble gum make this beer a summer classic.

Hazy, lemony color in the pint glass. Nice aroma of spicy malt. Big Hefeweizen flavor but not so clearly clove-flavored, faintly cinnamon. More orange peel than banana. Nice sharp taste to go with the big malt. Really makes me think of sasparilla. Touch of bubble gum. So full of malt and flavors for a modest ABV and practically no hops. Great summer drink but would be tasty by the fire too.
Enjoyed at the 1814 2nd St location. ABV is listed as 5.8% and IBU is 16.
