This beer is more oriented on the American side of brown ales. Not bitter, as the hops are added late during the boil for more of it’s aromatic qualities. Notice the fruity nose and chocolate malt flavors to make this what the staff calls a gentle beer.

Thanks to Beergoot for this one during NBS BIF #16. 16oz can (dated 8/19/22) poured into 14oz teku. Poured a solid, dense, very dark brown color with over an inch of dark khaki head that had good retention and lacing.
Solid grains, light roast, and a hint of chocolate had the nose. Very similar on the tongue, with just a bit of floral hops on the finish.
The body was medium, smooth, carried good carbonation, and had a medium finish that leaned a touch to the dry side. Drinkability was very good, a nice, easy quaff, one you could have several of. Overall, a very nice and enjoyable brew. Certainly worth your time if you see it.

Clear, dark brown body; thick, frothy head, light khaki color, sticky. Excellent roasted grain note; malty; mild cocoa powder. The taste follows along with the smell; fine, earthy sweetness; cocoa and mild chocolate tones; moderate bitterness; roasted nuts. Medium-heavy body; excellent residual sugar feel; semi-sweet overall yet finishes on a soft dry note.
This is a fantastic brown ale, rich and malty. Per the can label, it won bronze at the 2022 World Beer Cup and won gold at the 2020 The Great American Beer Festival. I can believe these wins. It is just a fantastic beer.

Had on tap. Dark brown opaque pour with two fingers of tan foam. Smell and taste are the same: brown malts, cocoa, slight biscuit, with a kiss of herbal hops. Feel is medium-light bodied, malty, warm, smooth and with a hint of chew to it. Basic but solid brown ale
