Ahtanum (hops) is an aroma-type cultivar bred by Yakima Chief Ranches (Washington state). Its name is derived from the area near Yakima where the first hop farm was established in 1869 by Charles Carpenter. This hop has very similar qualities to the coveted casade hops.

On tap at the brewpub in August 2009. Pours a copper color with a decent white head. The smell isn't terribly hoppy, nor is the taste. Also, there is a fairly strong diacetyl presence, and with very few hops there to mask it, it overpowers the rest of the beer. This affects the beer's drinkability quite a bit.
