On-tap, poured into a dimpled mug at Graydon's

A- 1-finger khaki head atop a hazy, red-brown body.

S- A little muted. More caramel than Scotch-like aromas. Missing some of the smoky/peaty aromas I really like.

T- Better than aroma would suggest. Scotchy-peaty flavors flourish a bit more.

M- Moderate carbonation. Maybe a bit lighter than expected.

O- Good, not great. Lighter than the higher ABV style I expect from a Scotch Ale.

Had at the brewery...

A- Poured a lighter amberish brown color....to be honest just looked really watered down in color. One finger light tan head showed quick retention before having some light streaky lacing on the sides of the glass.

S- Light smokey malts thrown in with a huge sweet caramel backbone aroma wise. Light floral hops in the faint back but overall most aroma tones are muted. There is also a doughy presence and faint alcohol.

T- Sweet malts from the get go. This gets into a light smokey taste with a floral hopping in the middle. This is a very light taste though with the smoked malts and floral hops. The sweetness kicks back in ten fold and goes through with a light toffee finish.

M- Medium mouthfeel. Carbonation is alright for style but perfect for the beer as it makes it slide across the palate. A sickly sweetness is left over the palate with even more sweetness and light alcohol warmth on the aftertaste. Flavor was muddled and very one dimentional...that being just sweet.

D- This was a one and done for me. Not a scotch ale at all. This was too sweet overall and not to my or anybodies liking who tried it. Another run of the mill beer for Old Hat which seems to be their trademark.
