12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. No freshness date, but I believe I got this in the fall so at this point it may be a touch past its prime though the style description says it's brewed to keep.
A: Muddy brown color with a thin head that lingers
S: Sweet malt, a bit of toffee
T: Starts off malty, turns a bit fruity, a bit alcoholic/estery, & finishes with a bit of spice. Not bad, but disjointed
M: Medium-bodied, a bit sweet, a bit creamy. Could use a touch of hops for balance
O: Okay but nothing more. I'll keep my eye out for it again in the fall to try it when it's fresher

12 oz bottle, no numbers or anything within sight on bottle.
Pours a deep golden amber, many carb trails and a frothy white head that patches to the glass. Smell is nicely toasted, with some grassiness as well. Taste is a bit odd, a smooth malt twists into an acrid, coffee-like finish. With too much alcohol taste as well. Kind of ruins the finish, with the burn and all. Very hot. Drinkability ok. This beer really held it down until the finish.

A- expansive buff colored head on this high gravity oktoberfest. chill hazed orange amber with golden highlights. foam is stable and rocky. nice rings of lace form on my dimpled mug.
S- same floral hop aroma that i found in their other brews. hearty toasty malts in the background. not as rich smelling as versions from other ohio breweries.
T- fruity melon alcohol esters and a boozy kick start this one off. alcohol bitterness mingles with herbal hop flavor, edging out any sweetness. bitter and astringent on the way down. alcohol floods the palate. finishes boozy with lingering toasty malt. i could imagine worse but this is a huge disappointment.
MF- consistency is ok, but is hot from the alcohol. some grainy feel and good medium carbonation but again, alcohol ruins everything.
D- received as a sample from one of my distributors along with cardinal ale and verich gold. i saved this one for last and i wish i never had. alcohol is amplified in every sense but aroma and is completely unmasked in flavor and feel. for being under 7%, this has the booziness of a 10% abv poorly made tripel. please guys, reconfigure this recipe. an unfortunate and disheartening drain pour for what could have been a decent beer.
