Bought at Taberna 1865, Rio Maior, Portugal. Golden pour, quick white. Nose is rosemary and malt.
Taste is honey, light kilned malt, rosemary. Light mouthfeel. Finish is much the same, really nice beer.

The beer presents an attractive hazy amber corpus, but its head diminishes rather quickly, leaving little trace. Its bouquet is an interesting mixture of citrus and vegetal, with the rosemary component making a distinguishing, positive contribution. This holds true for its flavor, as well. It reminds me of a bergamot liqueur I recently sampled in Italy. Not bad at all, but, as with the liqueur, there’s a hint of throat-lozenge medicinality about it that is slightly distracting. I’m willing to accept, though, that this might just mean that it’s good for what ails me. Svelte on the palate. The more I think about it, incorporating rosemary as an aromatic is an inspired touch.
