Disco Witch Brewing “You Sexy Thing Hot Chocolate Milk Stout”
16 oz. / $7.75 @ Flying Boat Tap Room, Ocala, Fl
Look: Black body beneath a short head of tan. It has limited head retention and next to no lacing but that’s probably due to oils from the chocolate, cacao nibs, or chocolate flavoring.
Smell: Chocolatey backed by mildly roasty malt.
Taste: The flavor follows with plenty of chocolate but I don’t get any marshmallow, which is fine. The roastiness comes through like in a creamy coffee, and a moderate bitterness of around 20 or so IBUs balances it nicely along with a mild, dark malt acidity.
Feel: Medium bodied and smooth with a moderate to median carbonation.
Overall: The chocolate component livens what appears to be an otherwise decent beer on its own, and it doesn’t appear artificial although I’m sure it is. Nicely done.
