A - Served a dark black color with a hint of brown and a finger of chocolate colored head. The head fades down slowly leaving behind some good lace.

S - Aroma is a mix of roasted and burnt chocolate malts with a touch of coffee and sweetness.

T - Starts off with some roasted and burnt chocolate malts and a touch of sweetness. Through the middle, some earthy hop flavors come through. The finish is a mix of burnt bitter chocolate malts with a bit of sweetness.

M - Medium-plus bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth and a touch creamy with a dry finish.

D - Very drinkable. Good roasted and burnt flavors with overall good balance. Nice dry finish.

 

 

 

On-tap at Triple Rock

A: The pour is essentially black with a finger of creamy, tan colored head.

S: The nose is very roasty with plenty of coffee aromas to it. There's some dark cocoa powder that is somewhat bitter and maybe even a touch of nuttiness to it.

T: A mild bitterness, some moderate chocolate notes, and a very heavy roasted malt component. There's a touch of acidity to it, but it works out alright. Lots of coffee flavor, too.

M: The body is medium and the carbonation is smooth and low to medium.

D: I'd definitely have this beer again. Smooth and easy to drink, like the style should be.

On-tap at Beachwood BBQ,

A: Pours black with a full off-white head, good retention.

S: Roasted malts, oats, smells to style.

T: Nice flavour of bitter dark chocolate, some sugar from the oats. Light hop character overall, but a bit piny at the finish.

M: Medium-bodied, firm carbonation, little astringent at times.

D: Solid stout, nothing special, but I'm sure one that anyone can enjoy.

This beer is really close to the juniper

Color is black as can be. With a weak tan head.

Taste is smooth with a late bite. It is alright. Chocolate with zero coffee.
Mouthful is average with nothing special.
Drinkability is alright. I would order a second.

These guys here started to talk be with me but quickly turned old guy jerk. If it is not 45lp it's not cool. Douchbags.

they have the same beer on tap but it is served much to cold. the brewer told me it was dry hopped with his own grown hops the smell was vary similer to the porter with a brown head insted of offwhite tasted like a stout should rosted malt chocolate coffee
i had it on tap and from the cask and i could have drank the cask dry. a great beer

Pint at Triple Rock in Berkeley on 1/27/09, wanted something to warm me up on a rather cold afternoon, reviewed from notes, color is a deep dark brown color, thin creamy 1/2 inch tan head that mellows quickly, not much lacing but a minor coating at the top of the glass, aroma is full of roasted malts, coffee, barley, chocolate, bread, charcoal, and cream, flavor is very roasty and almost tart in the finish, hard to explain, malt can be bready and chewy at times, milk chocolate comes out once it warms which makes a nice addition but it still lacks complexity overall, roasted, chewy, and dry mouthfeel, pretty much medium bodied, moderate level of carbonation, could barely finish sixteen ounces and could probably not do much more, heavy stuff and taste is too one dimensional, more of a sipper rather than a sessionable oatmeal stout like it is meant to be, not a bad representation of the style but not great either, probably would try something different if and when I go back to this brewpub, for being one of their best sellers it was not that great, still worth trying

A: Medium sized off-white head with near-black body.
S: Smells mostly of coffee and cocoa.
T: Tastes of cocoa and a little bit of milk chocolate, and a good amount of caramel. Has a coffee-bitterness finish.
M: A bit too carbonated for a stout. Other than that, pretty thick.
D: Not bad--not terribly impressed--but still a good stout.

Presentation: Tapped from a nitro system. Poured from a pitcher into a 16oz glass (tumbler).

Appearance: Dark rich brown. 2cm of nice tan head.

Smell: Heavily roasted malt, hints of fresh roasted cocoa.

Taste: Rich and round. Definite presence of hops, followed with a bitter, buttery after taste which melts in your mouth and without any harshness.

Notes: This was my first experience with Triple Rock's Stonehenge Stout, but extremely positive. The excellent round and balanced flavor made me want to come back for more, which I would have done if it wasn't so filling.

Poured an opaque, dark brown, with a tan head. Aromas of roasted nuts, coffee, chocolate. Smooth, medium bodied and moderate carbonation. Body lacks for a stout, but quite a nice beer. You don't feel the alcohol at all. Extremely easy to drink. Some semi sweet chocolate, and a slight bitter after taste. More porter-like in my opinion. Very nice brew.
