Amazing how beers that came out 14 years ago aren't in the database yet. Well here it is. Stalwarts of the Bistro Double IPA festival, Triple Rock (Kazakoff & Edwards) brewed up this 100ibu banger for the 2006 event.
Similar to a lot of the double ipas during this time period, you got a relatively glowing orange color poured. 1/3" off white head. Aroma hit the caramel and pine notes for me. Didn't push as much grapefruit as was typical for the time, which is when you tied an onion to your belt, which was the style at the time.
Taste was definitely hoppy, and the grapefruit notes did creep in at this time. This beer was kind of a predecessor for their IIMAXX one that is a sure thing at almost every dipa fest the last decade. Triple Rock has always excelled at making big hoppy beer that didn't taste as if they had as much alcohol as they do/did. This one scored pretty good. Carbonation being lively always helps.
