On tap at beach wood BBQ LB
A - a golden straw/sunset orange, one finger white head and some sticky lacing
S - flowers, citrus. Weed, very sweet, a bit fruity and a very nice toasted malt
T - wow, very lovely floral, nice very bitter hop note, very nice tropical fruit, tons of citrus, a touch of wood, some roasted malt, lots of crisp very fresh water, resin and more floral bitterness
M - medium body, well balanced, medium plus acidity, nice complexity and very long finish
D/O - very crisp, bitter and refreshing! If you don't like bitter, stay away! Haha. This beast is bitter but in the best kind of way.
Final thought - at nearly 7.5% and $6 a pop, this is worth a go!

T - wow, very lovely floral, nice very bitter hop note, very nice tropical fruit, tons of citrus, a touch of wood, some roasted malt, lots of crisp very fresh water, resin and more floral bitterness
M - medium body, well balanced, medium plus acidity, nice complexity and very long finish
D/O - very crisp, bitter and refreshing! If you don't like bitter, stay away! Haha. This beast is bitter but in the best kind of way.
Final thought - at nearly 7.5% and $6 a pop, this is worth a go!

On-tap at Beachwood Brewing
Pours a slightly cloudy golden orange with a sticky white head. Heavy grapefruit and line aromas to this one with a light herbal note to it. Some hints of bready malt in the background, maybe some biscuit. A nice citrus bite to it with plenty of pine. Some slight sweetness and a little bit of floral hop character. A respectable beer, but not as good as the Beachwood version (perhaps not surprisingly).

On tap @ Beachwood BBQ (12/23/10) - from notes:
Pours a clear orangish yellow with a small white head and leaves nice lace. Smell is dominated by citrus grapefruit and tropical fruit notes. Taste is a hoppy punch with a faint malt for balance. From tap list: Carapils, 2 Row, and Crystal malts. Amarillo, Centennial, Columbus and Summit hops were in the recipe. Mouthfeel is refreshing up front, dry and bitter on the finish. Overall, highly recommend.

On-tap at Beachwood BBQ, one of the half-dozen IPA related beers of the Tripel Rock/Drake's Brewing Day. On to the beer:
A paler orange color shows itself in the glass. This one, despite a small head, leaves a good deal of lacing. A couple dashes of resin and a bigger punch of sweet grapefruit has this IPA leaning towards the juicy category. Well, it's kind of juicy. The flavor is nice and has some firepower, that's for sure. Out come notes of grapefruit, orange, and a little sumpthing extra resemblant of vague citrus. All in all, a sound IPA.

"Brewed with Julian Shrago. Named after the Laurel District of nearby Oakland. Oakland native and San Diego resident, home brewer of note, Julian joined Rodger Davis in the brew house to produce this Simcoe, Amarillo and Centennial hopped pale ale."
Two pints consumed on tap at Stone. The beer is transparent dark golden orange with a thick seafoam white head, great retention, and weblike lacing. The nose is of succulent citrus, with orange, grapefruit, and light tropical notes. Pine resin commands a moderate presence and a dash of alcohol is perceivable. Malt is of saltine crackers and faint.
The taste reveals ample hop flavor without a lot of bitterness. Orange, grapefruit, and pine resin. The citrus induces salivation. Pine resin and citrus linger in the finish with light tropical notes. It's really excellent stuff. Exceptionally smooth and drinkable

Had this beer on tap at Beachwood BBQ in Seal Beach, CA. Brewed by saco_de_toro at Triple Rock brewery and in limited release.
A: The beer was poured pretty cold and had a nice lingering head. The color was very inviting; a clear golden hue with great carbonation.
S: The nose consists mostly of grapefruit, citrus and pine with not much in the malt area. This is a clean dry IPA, definitely on par with West Coast power houses which I love.
T: Taste was much like the nose. Very nicely hopped, maybe Simcoe, Summit, Cascade? The hops are super fresh and stick around a while after you've swallowed.
M: Lively with lots of fresh hop bite to let you know it's a serious IPA. Not much burn for the amount of hops that must be in here. Great balance for a purposely unbalanced beer.
D: I don't know the ABV but I would guess around 7.2. The beer is pretty drinkable and goes down smooth with a perfect finish. I love IPA's so drinkability is ALWAYS high!
In all, this is a great IPA and I am going back tomorrow to see if there is any left. Highly recommended.
