On tap at the brewpub.
A: Pours a pitch black body with nice light beige head. It retains pretty well and deposits some foam down the sides as we sip.
S: This is overtly chocolate-dominated, with roasted grain coming shortly behind. I also pick up maple or molasses; the overall profile is quite sweet on the nose. Hints of anise, also.
T: The taste is drier than the nose implies. Still chocolate-forward, as expected, but molasses / maple seems to bring flavor more than sweetness to the beer. I also pick up anise and dark fruits throughout. A nice flavor of roast is present without being too strong. Touches of coffee near the finish, and a lingering earthiness. Great flavor.
M: Medium in body; it's not a hefty beer, which I appreciate. It goes down quite easy. No trace of the ABV.
D: Quite solid... I'll have to try this again.
