"Aunt Sissy” is anything but sissy. This double IPA comes in at 9% ABV and 80 IBU and has a massive hop character with orange and peach at the forefront.

Had Aunt Sissy, my first beer from Myriad, poured from pint can, no date, gift from lifelong friend of She Who Must Be Obeyed, into nonic pint.
Pours deep, murky orange, with 1-finger, very light-tan head, with excellent retention, leaving nice rings of Belgian lace down the glass. Big, sweet orange aroma off pour, which continues throughout, joined by mild pine and tart stone fruit aromas, with some bitter herbals and finally mild malt aroma joining as warms. On tasting, begins mildly herbal bitter and sweet peach, over a medium body of toasted malt, then sweet orange takes over, and carries into and through a big, bitter, piney, peppery and a bit sticky finish, all of which hides that huge ABV rather well.
Looks like an old-fashioned midwestern DIPA, and hits those marks in aroma and flavor, except to the extent that the major fruity, piney and spicy hop presence mix it up, avoiding the over-sweetness that is the downfall of so many similar beers.

APPEARANCE: Foggy amber with a medium off-white head and limited lace.
NOSE: Classic citrus, pine and floral hops.
TASTE: Big chewy hops sticking to the palate, bitter at the finish. Truly a classic Imperial IPA and a superb, masterful showing for Myriad. Loved this one.

From the tap. Light caramel color with light foamy head. Medium bodied and slightly sweet/malty up front IPA with mildly acidic but mostly citric after taste.

22oz bottle purchased Tuesday at the brewery (bottled Monday per Facebook) and reviewed on Saturday 9% ABV. The beer pours hazy / murky in a caramel color with plenty of light khaki head. The head recedes to a thin cap and leaves a heavy lacing. The aroma is faint with hints of caramel and pine. The taste is semisweet caramel with a weird, oxidized, wet cardboard, vaguely piney hop flavor. Moderate bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, poor.
