After an introductory mlĂko shot, had 2900 Below at the Fertile Ground taproom on draft into willi becher.
Pours apparently black but actually deep brown with gold highlights, and 1-finger very light tan head, with good retention, leaving nice lace etched down the glass. A little chocolate aroma off pour, then continuing mild roast malt aroma, and finally a hint of tart stone fruit. On tasting, begins crisply carbonated and ambiguously fruity, over moderate roast malts, and then mild sweet chocolate, before a crisp, slightly sweet, moderately herbal, just a bit roasty finish.
A well-engineered Chocolate Porter, notable for a complexly-hopped, moderately roasty, deftly chocolate, balanced and surprising subtle and pleasing finish.
