On tap at Imperial in PDX the other day. Listed on the menu there as a quintuple ipa.
The beer pours the expected hazy golden amber color with pretty good head retention and lacing. On the nose I'm picking up considerable tropical fruit and citrus, with a hint of underlying vanilla. The flavor profile replicates the nose pretty closely in this moderately sweet hazy ipa. Bitterness is minimal, which I guess is to expected. Initially I didn't pick up any heat on the finish, which surprised me given the abv. However, over time the alcohol became more and more noticeable in this extremely boozy dipa. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a soft, slick finish. Alcohol is pretty noticeable, but at least it wasn't hot on the finish.
Have had a number of high alcohol ipas from Brujos, and this is probably the best one I've tried so far. Even so, the noticeable alcohol makes drinking this beer an absolute chore, and mars the beer's drinkability. An interesting beer for sure, but not one I'd want to drink again any time soon.
