absurd bottle of beer, generously shared by good friends, the best ive had from these guys so far i think, but it hasnt been many and they have all been good. this packaging slaps too, especially in the black bottle, looks wicked. this is done with roasted peanuts, a bunch of vanilla beans, cacao nibs, and marshmallows, and its leagues better than what most everyone else is doing with these ingredients, this isnt another powdered peanut butter stout, its not another diabetic marshmallow flavored beer, its got a degree of authenticity rarely seen on the added ingredients, its so smooth and creamy, and the waves of flavor are just incredible, one after the next. this is a collaboration with troon, who i dont know much about but now i want to. inky black beer with mega viscosity and a thin ring of very dark brown bubbles around the edges of the glass, intimidating and huge. the aroma on this is awesome, roasty the whole way, deep and bitter, espresso-like and a heck of a foundation to build on, i dont think this is barrel aged but it still kind of smells woody and charred and boozy and enriched like that, neat grain complexity and size, could almost be barrel aged to my senses. its nutty and sweet, velvety even in the nose, the red skins of the actual peanuts, some oils, beautifully married to the honest, bold, and sexy vanilla in this, which kind of drips into the marshmallow part as well, massively appealing and authentic with these extras. the flavor is elite, and its tied intimately to the mouthfeel, which is weighted blanket in extra plush, incredible! peanut and vanilla are amazing together, this is high end vanilla and there is appreciable roast on the actual peanuts, peak flavor development, enough dark grain character keeping this stouty and not diabetic, great balance here even in a marshmallow beer, and the marshmallow factor is creamy and smoothening and really does taste like marshmallow independent of the vanilla element, strongest at the end, wildly compelling. good coffee and alcohol warmth, pleasant bitter chocolate from the nibs and also from the malt, slick almost fatty peanut through it, the roast apparent, and its all wrapped in this wonderful vanilla, floral and feminine, odd in such a big beer, wonderful. long on the palate, forever flavors, maybe the best nut beer ive ever had, way way up there anyway, this is a triumph, a great illustration of what pastry stout can be at its best, an absolute pleasure to drink, worthy of all hype!
