33cl bottle from the supermarket. Pours a clear dark amber with a light tan head that gives way to a sticky lacing. Spicy smell, like a Belgian dark ale, with notes of coriander, pine resin, caramel and brandy. The taste follows the same notes, bitter-sweet and surprisingly light bodied for a barleywine.

July 2011: Shared bottle at local tasting, thanks to abemorsten. ABV is 9.6%. Deep golden to amber colour, slightly hazy, low white head. Moderate spicy aroma. Unusual and complex flavour of various spices, also some woody notes. Interesting.

This is not as expected from a Barley wine. The malts are rather simple and the mouthfeel is too thin. More like a Tripel fermented with a clean yeast strain.
