Tasted at the WBF-08 in Gouda, NL.
Appearance is pretty dark, almost black with a thin off-white head.
Smell is malty with mild caramel notes. I smell a big dose of spices, without being able to qualify them, possibly coriander and anise?
Taste is malty and caramellic, sweet. Bitterness is quite high and combines beautifully with the big sweet malts. The spices are subtile and there is a nice yeast profile of what I think is a Belgian strain, with some light solvent and fruitiness. A good dose of aromatic hops really finish up this beer.
