Bottle picked up at the brewery.
Big fluffy 1.5 finger head fades at med pace, hazy darker tan auburn slight reddish hue color
Nose as expected for an alt, nice semi sweet reddish malts with a fruity kick, bit of herbal hops, light caramel candy, slight syrupy.
Taste starts a bit sweet, reddish candy malts, light caramel and maybe Munich, syrupy. Then fruity twist, light fruity but candy fruit flavors. Then hips kick in, nice grassy herbal hops with fair bitterness. Finish is long lingering bitter herbal earthy grassy hops, slightly sweet candy malts.
mouth is med bodied, decent carb.

Bought this directly at the breweries shop. 0.75l bottle without label. Little paper attached to neck with rubber band states name, amount, alcohol content and style: "Amsterdam Brown Ale". Because this is not an official style I categorize this as American Brown Ale rather than a British because it is quite hoppy in the aftertaste and I connect this with the US.
Cork came out like from a champagne bottle and beer spilled over my table though it was resting in the fridge for weeks. Never had this before. Poured it into my Jopen stem glass.
very deep ruby almost completely black body, beautiful fluffy beige head that reduces slowly and leaves little lacing.
I get some hops aroma and not much else at the beginning but after the foam fades I get caramel malts and dark fruits, some chocolate and alcohol.
nice warm malty taste, coffee and nice bitter hops in the aftertaste
body is medium with fine but strongly tickling carbonation. after some time carbonation reduces and body gets velvety.
I like this beer after waiting for some time and letting it warm up. Without the foam and tickling carbonation, aroma and body improve dramatically. I like the caramel sweetness, unpretentious coffee malt and how the palate is wiped clean from the sweetness by the bitter aftertaste. Yes this is a winner! How come that irregular beers like this and Nick & Simon from de Prael are way superior to the standards?
