The second child is a Red Ale, but a damn sexy one, if we may say so ourselves! Usually Red Ales aren’t considered sexy, but we’ve tried to change that. With this little guy, we’ve added a bunch of Rooibos tea in the end of the boil, basically making a very, very (!) large cup of tea. We call it “Smells Like Tea Spirit” as an ode to our grungy youth.

Copenhagen 25/11 2022. 33 cl bottle from Craft Makers web-shop. Black label with what looks like a sketchy drawing of a tea pot and a used tea bag.
Pours opaque murky amber with a huge white head. Settles as 5 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is moderately intense with a sweet malty odor mingling with a tang of herbal tea. Caramel and toffee. Toasted. Chamomile and rooibos.
Light carbonation. Thin, oily, soft, almost flat texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a slightly more moderate bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter. Lingers for a bit. Finish is semi-dry with a herbal touch.
They get points for being innovative - but a bit too herbal for my taste buds.
