GreenCard from Maryland
3.11/5 rDev 0%
look: 4 | smell: 3 | taste: 3 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3
Appearance: deep gold hue, good clarity, a foamy layer of white head that flattens out to a meringue-y layer
Aroma: lightly malty and a bit soapy, light dusting of cinnamon & clove phenols, twinge of skunky hops, peary fruit sweetness
Flavor: smooth malt backbone with a touch of toffee-like sweetness, cork, iron, mild hop flavor, finishes dryish with a slightly soapy aftertaste
Mouthfeel: medium body, soft carbonation, a bit metallic
Overall Impression: This was quoted to be brewed by Van Eecke "for" the Camalou Bed & Breakfast in Ypres, Belgium. The lady who owns this B&B also is a WWI tour guide in the Ypres area. She gave me this when we were on her tour. It's more likely that Van Eeck just put one of their usual beers in a different bottle (a green, corked champagne bottle) without a label. Camalou then stuck a homemade label on it. I'm betting it's actually Hep Kapiteel Blonde.
