double hazy ipa here, packed with citra and mosaic, tasty but generic to me, a little lighter than a lot of these at this size which i appreciate in terms of drinkability, but does the world really need more hazy beer with this hop combination? like, has everything that can be done here already been done? i wonder that, as i drink yet another easy to lose in the crowd beer in this style space. i love citra and mosaic together, but its a known entity, and there is nothing unique about this beer, although its pretty well done overall. the lightest of orange tones to this, not super thick but with a steady haze through it, no sediment or anything, and a nice floating white inch of head on top from the tap, pretty well refined in the land of the milky ones. aroma is citra ahead of mosaic to me, lemon curd and meyer lemon with light coconut fleshy character, then crushed pineapple and sweet orange, less of the catty thing which is cool, not green or vegetal really for being so dry hop forward. the flavor follows, citra first, slightly oily, a little weedy, with pulpy orange juice, sliced mango, and zested lemon. the back end has very little bitterness, some starchy wheaty character from the malt base, its off dry, and faintly estery on the ferment, not as clean as it could be, which aside from a rather generic recipe is my only real knock on this one. smooth and flavorful, fresh and balanced, not as heavy as a lot of these, familiar but in a good way at the end of the day. hope to spend some time at bullfinch drinking through more of their lineup when i am back in syracuse next...
