Purchased November 2021 from Carwyn Cellars in Melbourne. Drunk in July 2022.
L: With the yeast poured in it presents as a muddy, opaque deep brown, with a small, tan-coloured and persistent head that leaves lacing on the way down. A small amount of carbonation is evident.
S: Brown sugar, raisins, caramel/molasses, booze, soft vanilla undertones.
T: Sweet caramel, chocolate brownie, mild spiciness. Dried fruits like prunes and raisins. Booze.
F: Smooth, mildly carbonated. Nice, and possibly the best part of the beer.
Overall: it's a nice, sweet, Belgian brown ale (it's a brown ale according to the bottle). It's listed as a Belgian Dubbel on Untappd and for me it's pushing towards that sapce, and would achieve it with a little more evident alcohol and dried fruit.
Cheers!
