Tejas quickly purchased the old Buffalo Bayou Brewing facility after they closed. Which is a pretty big building. Three stories with a bar on each level. I know everybody always gushed over the "view" from the third floor with Buffalo Bayou, but I never got why that was impressive. There are so many warehouses and construction, with just the backdrop of downtown in the distance. The rest is just a big box with TV's, concrete everywhere, bad modern pop music playing, ugh. You can look down at the brewing tanks from the second floor. So I guess that is something.
Service is fine and nice enough. They got me what I needed while I was sitting at the bar, though I don't think there is much of any real knowledge on their products. Selection is small, though that is not a turn off for me. Its just really predictable, and not very good quality. Two very obvious copies of what the majority of people think of as "Mexican" with a Clara, and Negra (guess what they are trying to copy). A Hefe and IPA as well. Though, they both had an odd sour/acidic thing going on, the Negra was like wet socks. Some serious brewing issues going on. The enchiladas were pretty generic, though filling. The small paper container with a dollop of bland salsa was pathetic.
Maybe I'll come back to try some of their whiskey and gins. As this is the same owner as Giant Distillers, and they have all that with cocktails as well. They have some huge money behind them to operate this. If I do try their distilled products, I hope they are at least competent, as the beers really aren't.
