Middle of Oktoberfest season, this is about as close as I can get to it from this brewery until they release their real Oktoberfest in a few weeks. But for now let's see how this is. Growler filled yesterday.

Pours a nice fizzy almost creamy 1 finger head that fades at a med to slower pace, hints of lacing that don't stay long, very dark mahogany chestnut brown that somehow lets the clear light sneak through but barely.

Nose brings nice dark brown malts, toasty and a bit sweet smelling, touch of a chocolately aroma, with some caramel and Munich like malts, touch of toffee and faint nutty aroma, creamy nutty toasty brown malt aromas.

Taste brings more brown malts, toasty, biscuity notes, little toffee and caramel sweetness, some sweet but creamy toasty brown malts, a little toasty nutty brown flavor again, cola nut?, faint earthy characters, root like based syrupy and earthy mildly spicy grassy hops in the background with a touch of bitterness. It has a soft creamy feel like it wants to be a lager, but don't get as much of the crispness, in fact the finish just kinda flows into itself... or something, not really a definitive finish, just kinda fades into it, with a bit more bitterness, sticky sweetness, little more nutty sweet candy toffee brown malts lingering.

Mouth is med bod, decent carb for growler, mild sweet syrupy note, nice creamy softness but not really the crispness.

Overall not bad, nice flavor and aroma profile with the toffee caramel sweetness, nutty brown malts, nice creamy feel and softness, but just missing the extra crispness. Also this is more of a brown ale or maybe lager than a Munich dark, but doesn't shy far away from that, and definitely enjoyable.
