33cl bottle, I assume this is a Belgian dark strong? I don't believe "christimas ale" is a style.

Pours a one finger off white head into a goblet. Retention is average, maybe a little below. Initial lacing looks super nice. Body is a cloudy brown. Looks super interesting, not like a Belgian dark strong, pretty good though.

Yeah definitely doesn’t smell like a Belgian dark strong. Smells almost like a flanders brown. Maybe not quite vinegar, but in that ballpark. A little malty, a tiny bit sweet. Extremely faint esters. Smells pretty nice, though the nose isn't huge, and it isn't very direct with its aromas.

Very curious what style this, I can't say I've had anything quite like this in a while. Hits at first with almost a musty graininess, manifests into maybe more of a burnt toast flavor. Similar to the nose in that it has a pretty significant tang, that I wouldn't quite say is to the level of vinegar. Some hidden esters in the back. Maybe a touch of stone fruit. A little bland overall. Generally not a huge fan of this, but it doesn't taste bad.

Mouthfeel is pretty decent. Carbonation is unassuming, a little below medium. Body is a touch below medium as well. A little tang, and maybe a touch of bitterness lingers. Sugars are balanced quite nice, not too sweet, definitely not dry. Overall a very solid mouthfeel.

For almost 8% this drinks very easily.

Appearance turned out ok. Lacing was somewhat web like, patchy, but not terrible.

Overall not my favorite beer, but it is well balanced and has a few good notes to it.

After looking this up online I see that it is listed as a Belgian dark strong. Who knows if that’s what they were intending, but hard to imagine what other category this would go under. Either way, it sure doesn’t taste like one.

Pours a cloudy amber color with a medium top of white head that dissolves in a medium pace. Aroma is of toasted malts, caramel, biscuits, citrus, spices and berries. The taste is fruity with malty caramel notes, while the finish is quite bitter with the malty toasted notes strong in the back. A little to bitter for how i like it.Aftertaste has a decent lenght. Mouthfeel is soft and smooth with a medium carbonation and a medium body.
A decent enough belgian ale, but far from the best ones. Would not have this again.
