This was given to me late last year, as I’ve never had anything from Five Dimes before. Love a good Belgian Blonde Ale and boy, did this fit that bill as I was completely impressed with this from start to finish!
Deep golden and cloudy in hue, this was topped off a full head that was wavy at the top. Gorgeous, thick rings of lacing remained as each one easily bled down to the next. Lovely yeast, clove, and banana were in the nose as the taste contained much of the latter. Some fall fruit, bing cherry, and apricot emerged once this fully warmed as it warmed me as well! The complexity was here as all of the notes complemented each other nicely with the end result being a brew that felt imported and easily accessible.
Oddly enough, this did not feel like a typical Belgian Blonde Ale as it was quite potent. That was in spite of the persistent carbonation and moderately heavy body. No date was to be found anywhere as this held up well over the course of this year. This should have been categorized as a Belgian Pale Ale or Dubbel but as it was, this was arguably the best example of the style that I’ve ever had. Way to make a good first impression on me, Five Dimes!

No evident canning date. Poured into a tulip glass. It pours a slightly hazy, bright golden-orange color with a big, fluffy, snow white cap and thick, sudsy lacing. Nice appearance. The smell is bold and Belgian-y with lots of clove and coriander, as well as lemon, banana, pear, and some musty tobacco notes. The taste is spot-on with sweet, fruity esters providing banana, apple, and pear. The clove and coriander nicely balance the fruity sweetness and add a touch of acidic bitterness at the finish. As the ale warms in the glass there are increasing earthy base notes with hints of tobacco and black pepper. The flavors are bold but compliment each other very well. This ale is medium-bodied and well-carbonated. And it doesn't drink like 9% ABV. It should be sipped slowly to allow the flavors to fully develop. Overall, More Good News is a very well-crafted Belgian Blonde Ale. Five Dimes has been open less than a year but shows maturity and prowess in this ale.
