Poured from 330mL bottle into a tall kitchen glass. Best by 1/5/23.
Appearance: very dark brown hue with minimal light let through. Head is a thick finger of pillowy tan foam with decent retention. Pretty!
Smell: sweetish malt with a bit of roastiness, but also a bit of a sourish/phenolic character that doesn't really belong in a porter of any kind. So, it's okay, but there are some pretty big flaws.
Taste: a bit sweet with caramel and roastiness, which is nice, but more of that phenolic character. It's actually not terrible -- you might even be looking for something like this in certain styles -- but for what it's advertised as (the label just says "porter"), it's pretty messy.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a pretty big carbonation and a decent creaminess.
Overall: not the worst beer out there, but darn messy for a simple porter.
