This brown ale has a light chocolate and coffee flavor with a good caramel background. Very low hopping adds to the drinkability.

on draft at the brewery

light brown in color, white colored head. mild caramel malt aroma, a touch of cocoa. taste is fairly bland though. and too thin of a body and mouthfeel. overall a bit disappointing a weak for a brown ale.

DATE: August 20, 2017... OCCASION: a beautiful Sunday that has encompassed Mass, a six-mile run, soccer plans, Lord of the Rings Risk, and a wiffle ball game--not much better than this... the first pour from the growler is as it looked at Two Rivers--a flourish of bubbles, a slight separation between the dark cola and lighter ale contrasts... subtle, large-bubbled effervescence--not its strong suit... the lacing is reminiscent of a large cat's pelt, spotty but patterned.... the initial breath inhales chocolate, brown sugar, dough, soft caramel, tootsie roll, and Arabica bean... aroma is fresh and alluring... flourishes in the mouth, with a medium-bodied heft providing a pleasant feel that encourages the next sip... the aftertaste doesn't stay long, but it has a sweetness that suggests its bready makeup.. soft chocolate--almost a tootsie roll--big, sweet caramel, cola sweetness that endures throughout the glass, and enough coffee bitterness to make good on its aromatic promise... a winner the first time I had it at Two Rivers, the growler brings the toasted malts and big caramel taste home... hosting the roommates, this maybe wasn't the choice they'd seek, but as an under-5% ABV, this does qualify as a year-round brown that will pair nicely with the grill fare to come for dinner...

Picked up a growler from the brew pub - second visit, great location and vibe with great food ... now the beer:

Poured from the growler into a narrow tall glass: color is a lighter brown, more amber, head is light tan, fine bubbles, minor spotty lacing.

Smell is feint, light toast, caramel and toffee.

Taste is similar to the aroma with toast, caramel, toffee, touch of chocolate - quick and easy drinking. Hops are earthy, not much additional presence.

Mouthfeel is crisp, still fairly carbonated after a car ride home.

Overall a good, easy drinking brown ale.
