TED is an ode to Vice beer co-owners Brandon & Lori Moore’s dog, Ted. According to Mike Bolt at Final Draft Taphouse, “Ted is the glue that holds the universe together.” We lost Ted in May this past year and miss him very much. Brandon helped create this recipe with Motueka and Galaxy hops. We call it a “Down Under Pils” with hops from Australia and New Zealand. It’s unfiltered with a high protein content. You may find your pour it hazier than you expect a Pilsner to be. That’s expected for this super hoppy Pilsner.

still trying to get a sense of what these guys are all about, this is just my third from them, i liked this a lot, and while it lacks freshness, its clever and still real neat, galaxy and motueka hops in this, an unfiltered and highly hopped very modern pils, not quite lacking refinement but not quite totally dialed in either to me, almost playing in that west coast pils or india pale lager space, but they do retain a lot of lager character in here too, distinctive liquid. sunny yellow pils colored beer but with enough haze to look like an east coast ipa, not messy or chunky, but not really pils-like either, decent white head from the pint can, airy and with okay retention, great carbonation the whole time this is in my glass. a little tiredness to the hops in the nose, but there are enough of them in this that its not really an issue, definite southern hemisphere vibes, sweet herbal greenness, lychee, honeydew, and meyer lemon zest, bright and snappy, some bitterness apparent, a little weedy to me, but pils malt and a non neutral lager yeast are also in play, so this does have a little bit of a european vibe to the base beer before the hops. tons of hops, but not really out of balance either, bold for the style but it works. the flavor is good, its all hops at first, motueka and galaxy both doing what they do, key lime, ripe melon, tangerine, lemongrass, sativa, green gooseberry, very verdant even without perfect freshness. the lager yeast and grain do emerge and its pleasant, stays light even with the haziness, doesnt drink hefty because of it, nice minerality, dry to finish, curiously quick at the end for how flavorful it is, a light white wine and even pineapple recall. peppy carbonation lightens it too. overall i liked this, appreciate the high hop dose and distinctive blend, wish i caught it fresher, but im into it anyway...

Easily my favorite pilsner of all time - Untappd labels it a "New Zealand" pils...probably because of the hops used. Definitely the most hazy pils I've had, unfiltered as stated by the brewery, and the hops clung to some of the proteins in the brewing processed and hazed this one up. Tastes right in line with the appearance if I'm being honest, a lot like a cold IPA - still funky and a bit lagery, with a skunky hop oil presence than leans dank, but also has tons of grapefruit and citrus and melon. Refreshing and just a ton of fun all around.
