This is a Polotmavy 13° Czech Dark Lager. Polotmavy is a classic Czech-style method of blending a light, crispy Pilsner with a creamy, toasty dark beer. The word Polotmavy means “half-dark”. The result is a light, crushable darker lager with notes of toasted bread and cocoa spread. How did it all come together? Don’t Sweat The Czechnique!

awesome name, awesome beer, and apparently i am not the only one who has thought that, gabf silver medal winner right here, good for these guys, this is dialed! proper czech amber, decoction mashed which is apparent in the beer, adds so much old world authenticity, and it drinks so much fresher overall to me than the good imports ever seem to, so this really does it for me. nice richer looking amber to almost brick red color, rising and falling off white puffy head that doesnt quite last as long as i want it to, but nice looking beer overall. aroma and flavor of nutty, caramelized, and earthy malts, a baked warmth and heartiness is present without this being sugary or strong or heavy really, the high carbonation really moves it along, the decoction gives it a great full spectrum malt complexion, very earthy and old worldy, the water chemistry is obviously excellent, and the hops are light but helpful in balancing the back end, its crisper than most amber lagers i have known, and as such exceedingly drinkable despite having some body and some general richness about it, really wonderful malt profile on it, cohesive and tidy overall, super professional, and among the best vice beer offerings i have encountered so far to be honest. its smooth, round, flavorful, highly refined, and a total crusher in a style that rarely moves this swiftly for me. simple in a good way, complex if you let it be, beautiful execution!

This beer pours a nice dark amber color with a well-balanced malt to hop profile. The head stays for a while and is off-white in color. It is a very easy drinking beer with a good flavor profile. Rated 3-1-2024
