Dancing With the Tsars was brewed to Celebrate 8 years of Bridge & Tunnel Bottle Shop & Taproom in Astoria, OR! This beer was named by Dwayne and the name sparked the style of beer it should be. Layering 7 different malts for a rich, roasty imperial stout with notes of bakers chocolate and dark toast. Enjoy with your dancing shoes on!

16-ounce can purchased at Bridge & Tunnel taproom and bottle shop in Astoria, OR. No date stamp. Enjoyed in a nonic half-pint glass.
Look:
Clear brown-black body with ruby highlights and a rocky head of tan foam that shows good retention and leaves lacing like a Roger Dean album cover.
Smell:
The nose is a simple combination of dark chocolate, roasted malt, and caramel, with a worrying buttery component.
Taste:
The flavor has a lot more depth than the nose. There's bittersweet dark chocolate up front, followed by espresso, dark roasted malt, plums, Tootsie Rolls, and a trailing hint of caramel. The sweetness is well balanced by the coffee and roasted malt character. I'm happy to say the taste shows no sign of the buttery note in the nose. The finish is more dark chocolate, prunes, mixed dried fruit, burnt brown sugar, and suffers a bit from an obtrusive alcohol note.
Feel:
Medium-heavy body with a frankly gorgeous velvety texture. Finishes with alcohol that's warm but not hot (which is good, considering the beer weighs in a hair below 10%).
Overall:
This is a solid Russian imperial stout from a brewery whose clever beer names are sometimes better than the beers themselves. Good work, Vice Beer. Glad I grabbed this one.
