Pint pour on draught at Meyers Lighthouse. Served in a shaker glass. It is a slightly cloudy, bright honey-golden color with just a thin ring cap of ecru-colored foam. It is quite effervescent with myriad tiny bubbles ascending the glass. By the appearance it is evident that this ale doesn't include pumpkin meat in the mash. It's one of the lightest-colored Pumpkin Ales I've seen. The smell is primarily subdued pumpkin pie spices - allspice, clove, and cinnamon. The taste is malty and not overly sweet with the traditional allspice, cinnamon, ginger, and clove. There is a slight hoppy bitterness at the finish. The ale is lite, crisp, and very drinkable at 5.5% ABV. Overall, I have a preference for Pumpkin Ales that have pumpkin or yam (or both) in the mash. The Great Goudo is basically a malty ale with pumpkin pie spicing. And it that regard it is solid. If you prefer that variant of Pumpkin Ale, then it is worth seeking out.
