On tap at Sacred Profane Brewing in Biddeford, ME.
This one pours a darker black color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
There’s a really nice delicate smokiness to this one, not overwhelming at all, with lots of roast, some light chocolate, some caramel, and herbal hops.
LThis is really nicely roasty and chocolatey, with just a light warming hint of smoke. There’s not much hop character, just maybe a little bit of herbal bitterness. It’s all super well balanced.
This is creamy, rich, and very drinkable.
This is really nice subtle update to an already great beer.

Half liter on draught at Novare Res in Portland. Served in a dimpled stein.
Appearance: Pours a clear dark cola color with a big eggshell head.
Aroma: Lots of smoke and wood chips. Smells like campfire. Just what I want out of a rauchbier. Smoked meats, fire pits, smoked cheese, forest fires, chimneys.
Taste: Big smokey lager with tons of flavor without being overpowering. Reminiscent of the original version of this (which is great) plus smoke. Perfect pair for charcuterie, cheeses, pretzels.
Mouthfeel: Manages to have a ton of flavor and smoke without being overpowering or filling. (Also very little booze.)
Overall: This is great. So glad they did this. Find this if you can. Perfect companion for a cool fall evening.
