Freestanding brewery in an old post office. L-shaped bar opposite the entrance on the right seats about 10 with some tables about the room. 13 beers on tap, growlers and cans to go. Friendly bartender.

Double Tap brewery is a rather generic, average brewery with the advantage of a cool location and what seems like a thirsty crowd of locals.

The building itself was a former post office.. not the gothic, carved-wood and marble steps kind, more of the 1960's brick rectangle kind. Still cool and a unique look for a brewery, which ends up being the perfect framework for this airy brewpub. The big windows give the space great natural light, and the bar features outlets and usb ports at every seat, which is appreciated. The people did not appear to be the most discerning examples of craft beer customers, which perfectly suited the approachably boring tap list and old dudes in a band playing 90's rock against the back wall.

On my visit, I tried both an Italian pilsner and a west coast-style IPA. Neither beer left an impression, whether that be good or bad. They existed in a vacuum of average beers in okay spaces, washing over me like air. The only existing proof that they were consumed is slightly elevated BAC and a faint scent of hops on my breath. It's the kind of place that you'd order a giant pretzel with beer cheese sauce without looking at the menu, because you know it has to be on there (this place doesn't actually have food.. i don't think?)

The people working there were very nice. I hate scoring service in places like this. Nobody did anything wrong, but it wasn't above-and-beyond OR terrible, so i'm just going to do my best to match the score to the overall score that will be coming for this place.

I'd say roughly 35% of the menu was made up of beers that i would consider trying. That's not great, also not terrible.

I wish I had more to say about this place but I do not.

This newly-opened brewery is housed in the former post office building near busy Route 10. Double Tap has done a very nice job retrofitting the space which retains certain elements of its past use. There is a large taproom with a long bar and numerous tables, barrels, and couches. I visited the day after it opened and the place was packed with many locals, including families that brought in food. It was a boisterous crowd. The space is light and airy. The staff was working hard but took time to discuss recipes and make recommendations. I was impressed by the quality of the beer for a new brewing operation. They've clearly been working with the opening day recipes for awhile. There is ample off street parking although it was maxed-out by the large crowd. There are numerous food options along Route 10. Per New Jersey's archaic regulations you must bring the food in yourself. Overall, I'm glad to see Double Tap Brewing finally open after various delays, including COVID. It's a welcome addition to the local beer scene.
