A standard example of the American Marzen. IE, it is too sweet and sticky all things considered (I think Germans would crucify us for the way we brew Marzens), but that's not to say it's bad. There are still some great complex malt flavors (bread crust and toast galore, but with a fair amount of undesirable caramel as well) going on, and unlike most, they have at least deigned us with somewhat substantial hop bitterness that asks you to take another drink. At the very least they have gotten the look down pretty well, especially considering this was canned Sept. 2022. Crystal clear light copper with a persistant thin layer of cream colored foam. For a beer almost a year old, it's held together visually, extra points for that. Better than what you'll find at the Renaissance Faire, but only by a smidge.

On tap at Tiger Tiger, one of the Oktoberfest brews they still had left after their "OcTIGERfest" weekend. Handsome clear dark orange color with plenty of foam. Light mouthfeel with a malty body. Nose of roasted malt. Quite sweet. Some honey taste with a touch of herbs.
This is the classic Märzen with that sweet, grainy, and sort of gummy taste, plus a bitter aftertaste. Lots of caramel. It's really quite gulpable and I'd place it in the middle of the pack of the Oktoberfest beers I"ve been seeking out this year.
