Hazy, dirty gold color. The minor head dissipates quickly to a film of minute bubbles.
Strong yeast presence in the smell. The hop is subtle, particularly for the style. The malt is like freshly toasted bread—the second strongest aroma after the yeast.
Watery in appearance; watery in mouthfeel. The low carbonation doesn’t really help. The flavor is a step up, though. The base grains are toasty like the smell with no raw barley in the mix. The hop is more pronounced but not up to the level that would make this French beer similar to an American IPA, much less an NE IPA. The yeast is the least present element. Overall, this would be a decent entry into the APA world but misses the mark to imitate the style.
