Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – the beer pours a hazy deep orange-copper color with a small head of off-white foam. The head fades rather fast leaving a bit of foamy lace bubble residue on the sides of the glass.
Smell – the aroma is rather strong of a lightly toasted pumpkin, mixed with some raw pumpkin and pumpkin seed. Along with these smells comes a god deal of nutmeg and some notes of coriander and clove. There is also some sweetness of toffee and caramel as well as a little bit of a vanilla and cinnamon smell. With a little bit of a pie crust and some buttery grain bread, it mimics the aroma of a pumpkin pie scone.
Taste – the taste begins with a roasted and raw pumpkin flavor matched with a decent showing of nutmeg and clove spice. There is also a little bit of cinnamon and vanilla as well, but these are quite light and remain so throughout the taste profile. Upfront the sweetness is light with some notes of brown sugar and caramel, both of which grow more intense on the tongue as the flavor transitions forward. At the same time there is a bready and maltiness which grows lighter over time, all while a bit of earthiness joins in, producing a fairly easy natured, pumpkin taste in the end.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is medium in thickness and creaminess with a moderately high and prickly carbonation. For the middle of the road flavor profile, the feel is nice and makes for an easy sipper.
Overall – A balanced, easy natured, pumpkin brew overall. Nothing over the top, but enjoyable and quite approachable.
