We've long-admired Coava Coffee in their innovative and relentless pursuit of quality, and were over the moon to work with them on this unique and decadent beer. We built the beer around the beans with Joy Piersma, Coava's legendary Cold Brew Production Manager and Roaster. We settled on a concentrated cold brew of their Winter Solstice Blend, roasted specifically for this collaboration. The result is a mouth circus of crème brulée, dried fruit, baker's chocolate, and mousse. The finish is long and lingering with a kiss of bourbon-spiked coffee on a cold day.

16oz can picked up at ABV Public House in Hillsboro, OR
Poured into a Modern Times willi becher
P darker in color than anticipated, deep-ish copper/chestnut; small khaki cap; fairly heavy lace rings left behind
N soft-med fresh green coffee beans, w/ some grassiness and sweet malt as well
T delicious profile; sweet lightly toasted malt carries a blend of fresh coava coffee, caramel, and sweet vanilla/cream; so smooth and drinkable; satisfying
Mf med-full bodied; med carb; super smooth; very lightly creamy
O reminds me of a bolder version of Snowblind from Kettlehouse Brewing; I may be in the minority here, but I thought this was excellent

Tasted blind I guessed this was a dry wheatwine. I tasted biscuits, milky sugar, toffee, and butterscotch.
After the reveal I get some coffee, not a lot though. Interesting brew, glad to try it.

Definitely a coffee stout: nose is a carafe of fresh coffee right after it's ready. Taste is likewise, a coffee flavor riding in on roasted malts and a hint of bitterness. Color is Golden, hazy opacity with a light head, an unusual beer color. A hefty ABV of 8.2% is magically hidden , so caution.
It's an unusual brew, interesting to drink and would be an enjoyable beer to sip by the fire on cool evening, but one is enough.
